Weekly Update: Finishes and Progress

Two Finishes

This weekend I started a quick and easy pattern, Bitty Baskets - ABC Sampler.  It makes into a ribbon border and a pin keep top for a basket.  I finished the pin keep top on Sunday, March 21.

Bitty Baskets - ABC Sampler Pinkeep, designed by Rebecca Dorrie of Samplers and Such, stitched on 36-count linen, using Weeks Dye Works Independence.

The ribbon border was finished on Thursday.  It has a blanket stitch around the edge.  This is my first time doing a blanket stitch.  Some of it is coming out better than other parts.

This was the first time that I have used the over-dyed floss the way you are supposed to- with 2 separate strands instead of looping one strand.  You can see the nice variagation of coloring.  Hmmmm, guess when you use is correctly it looks really nice (blush).

On Wednesday evening (March 24) I finished up my regular UFO Tuesday piece.

stitched on 28-count Busy Bee Lugana,
using Sampler Threads Forest Glade, Corn Husk, Hyacinth,
Mulberry, Grape Arbor, Burnt Orange, and Shutter Green.

And A Start

I started another quick pattern, Welcome Miniblock by Hinzeit.  This was one of my Mom's patterns that I have had for a while.

  1. There really isn't a "correct" way to use overdyed floss! The different ways to use it give you different effects. I am stitching my silly counting sheep piece by "looping" the floss which gives it a neat "tweeding" effect.

Beautiful stitching, I especially like your S&BF piece...I have that one in my list!
