February 23 update

At the beginning of this week, Mom and I took the kids to an indoor water park for 2 nights.  It was a lot of fun, but I didn't get much stitching done, and oldest DD got sick at the end of our vacation.

This is what I have worked on:

 Finished Doodle Doo, for Mom
Doodle Doo, by Angel stitchin, on linen, using DMC 310,
and ST Brandy, Buckeye Scarlet, Midnight and Oatmeal

Autumn Sampler Snippet by Lizzie Kate

Land that I Love, by Shepherd's Bush, another one for Mom.
I am giving it back to her and she is going to finish it.

Weekly Update: Feb 10, 2013

I did not get very much stitching done this week but today I was able to get some stiching done on the January tea cup.

Hopefully I can get a bit more done next week.

Week Wrap-up: Feb 4, 2013

This is what I stitched on last week.

1. Doodle Doo

I have run out of 2 of the overdyed flosses for this and will have to pick some up at our LNS when Mom comes out to visit.

2. January Tea Cup, from the Just Another Button Company Cup O' Tea series

I have had the pattern series for a few years now and finally decided to get started with them.  I imagine I will get some more stitching done tonight during the SuperBowl.

I started something new for the game last night but didn't get a picture of it yet.  Will show it the end of this week!

Late Update, January 28, 2013

Last week, youngest DD was sick.  I finally took her to the doctor on Thursday morning.  Poor thing has not been feeling well, but at least she is on the mend now.

I only stitched on 1 WIP this past week.

January 21 2013 Update

This was a long week.  Oldest DD got sick (yucky kind of sick!) in the middle of the night on Wednesday, after Hubby and I had been sick most of the day.  Hubby and I had a fever, aches and pains, all the good news of the flu.  Youngest DD got sick- just a fever- on Friday night, she actually fell asleep on the floor, something that hasn't happened in a long time!

I didn't even feel up to stitching on Thursday or Friday, instead, spent most of the time just watching movies.

But before everyone got sick, I did get some stitching done.

Finished 1-14-2013
Monthly Mania May, by Heart in Hand

Stitched on 32-count linen, using
DMC 798, 813, 221, 554, 413, 743, 841, and  500

By Sunday, I was feeling better.  Youngest DD was still lying on the couch and running a fever.  At least I go her to eat a little bit on Sunday.

Finished 1-20-13
A Banner Year Boxer Series, Summer, by LizzieKate

Stitched on something, using WDW
Autumn Leavves,  Beige, Blue Topaz, Carrot,  and Romance,
and ST Buttermilk, Morning Glory, Cameo Pink, Hyacinth, and Shutter Green,
and Crescent Colors Erin Go Emerald

Finished while watching the NFL playoffs Sunday:
Monthly Markings February, by Heart in Hand

Stitched on linen, using Mulberry, Molasses, Hazelnut, Chablis and DMC 609

I also did some stitching on the camel for the Navtivity set.

 Plus this start
and this start
and this start
And DD has made this much progress:

Kind of jumping around a lot!  But at least I am getting some kitted stuff finished finally!

Been A While...

It is hard to believe it has been more than 2 months since I updated this blog.  Things have been so busy with trying to move and get settled,  I really haven't done any stitching in those two months either!  Our move was less than stellar.  Out of the 4 military moves I have made with Hubby, this one was probably the least enjoyable.

We found out at the airport that we couldn't take our cockatiel with us on the airplane.  Because of endemic illness on the Hawaiian islands, cockatiels have to travel as air cargo.  We didn't have an appropriate carrier, and I was concerned he wouldn't survive the trip since we had 2 layovers.  So I had to call my friend and have her come get the bird from us at the airport,  and had to tell the kids that we had to leave their pet.  Yeah- that was a lot of fun.

The trip was uneventful.  We were all very tired.  We then tried to find a house in Virginia.  We looked at every available house in our price range in three suburbs of DC and didn't find anything.  We must have seen close to 30 houses!  We couldn't get a house that wouldn't have required another 15K in fix-ups to make us able to sell the house when it was time for us to leave.  We eventually decided to go with on-base housing.  We were able to get a house within 2 weeks of arriving, but our furniture didn't arrive for another 3 weeks.

Then we got swamped with 3 deliveries of our household goods in under a week!  We are still working our way through boxes.  Plus in the middle of that, I flew the kids home to see my dad, since things were getting more critical with his health.  The only stitching I have done since July 11 was a few patterns I worked on while traveling to my parents.

In late August, I started LK Thank Heaven for Little Boys.  My mom wanted to stitch this for my sister-in-law, but with my dad's illness, she decided it would be better for me to stitch it,   Here is the start.
I finished this pattern on September 21, in my dad's hospital room.

LK Thank Heaven for Little Boys, stitched on 28-ct blue linen, using ST Chalk, and WDW Americana, Louisiana Hot Sauce, and Saffron

Another piece I started at my parents' house ( I stole it from my mom) was Pumpkin Harvest, by the Trilogy.

I don't remember which day I finished this last week.

Pumpkin Harvest, by the Trilogy, stitched on 32-count natural Belfast linen, using ST Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate, Dried Thyme, Maple Syrup, and Nutmeg, and WDW Hazelnut, and Juniper.
Some other WIPs:

I don't think I am  going to get my goals finished this year.  Our family life has been in upheaval for the last 3 months, and that has put a serious dent in my stitching finishes.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Update!

I have not done any stitching since July 11 and I am having some serious withdrawal issues!

But we are almost ready to head to Virginia.  First off, we have finally gotten all of our household goods packed up and on a boat.  Got the house cleaned, the carpets cleaned, and checked out.  Got the car on a boat to get shipped.  Had the going away party at work, with the church friends, and my oldest DD's birthday party.  Got the bird cleared for take-off.

So we are heading out soon.  And we are back to square one looking for a house, since the one we thought we were buying fell through.  I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, like I can't focus on stitching.  Hopefully a few days getting settled in VA and I will be able to focus on some stitching.  In between trying to find a house....

A Late Update

Well, things have been pretty busy getting ready for our move.  We also made another trip to the Big Island a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't had much stitching news.

First, I started one of the Mill Hill Christmas ornaments while on the Big Island.  It is coming along pretty nicely.

I also started a small project called Nightie Night by Twisted Threads.  It is going to be for my brother and sister-in-law's twins, expected sometime in November.

I will probably not have an update on here until after we move and get settled.  Talk to you then!

Weekend Update

Here it is, Sunday already!  It has been a busy week.  I got one pattern finished earlier in the week posted here.

The only other stitching I worked on was June from the LizzieKate: A Year with Charm series.

Guess the big news?  We bought a house!  Now we have a forwarding address.  We have about 5 weeks before we are off the island for good.  Last night I got together my traveling stitching stash to have enough projects to keep me busy before our household goods arrive in Virginia in September.

Here is my Vera Bradley travel bag.

Opened up, you can see my supply zipper bags on top of individual project bags.

Scissors in one, highlighters and pencils in one, boo-boo stick and stitch slicer in one, and needles, thread heaven, floss rings, and tape measure in the butterfly zipper.

This is the zipper bag carrying the Year with Charm series.  It has all the fabric, all the patterns and working copies, plus a pair of scissors, a highlighter and a snippet trash bag.  I will have to gather floss for the remaining months.

Next we have Snowed In, by Stone & Thread (which needs fabric and floss), Mill Hill Festival of Trees Snowflake Tree charmed ornament (complete kit), and Happy Thanksgiving Holiday Snapper by Bent Creek (one I stole from my mom this past trip to complete for her- it has fabric and has been started, I need to gather floss.)

Here we have Miniblock Daughter by Hinzeit (completely kitted), the LizzieKate: A Year with Charms fabrics and patterns (now moved to the previous zipper bag), and Wee One: little angel in the clouds by Heart in Hand (another one I stole from my mom- it has fabric but needs floss- I may keep this one when it is done!)

Finally, we have Land That I Love by Shepherd's Bush (completely kitted and promised to my mom!), "All Dolled Up!" Red House in Winter by Little House Needleworks (floss and fabric for 2 projects since Mom let me have this pattern on the condition that I stitch one for her as well), and the memorial ribbon pattern that I have yet to complete.
I hope this is enough to keep me busy while we are packing, traveling, getting into the new house, and waiting for our household goods to float across the Pacific Ocean!

Stitching Progress

Here is my progress on several quick stitches.

A Year with Charm: April

A Year with Charm: January.
I will just have to add the charm when i get home.

Liberty by Heart in Hand.  I stole this one from my Mom on Wednesday to stitch at the hospital.  (She knows I stole it, so I guess it isn't really stealing!)

Stitchin' Update

This week I got a bit of stitching done.  This might be the year of LizzieKate finishes for me- LOL, since they are quick and easy patterns.  I worked on the Year with Charm series.

Here is January.

And February.

My oldest DD decided to start a rainbow heart pattern.  Here is her progress on it.

Friday morning, while helping my kids try to make bubble gum, I got a splinter in my right index finger!  Ouch!  That made stitching pretty hard most of the weekend, so I have been taking a break- playing Mario Kart on the Wii.  And the kids are complaining because they can't play!

I got a package from my finisher on Saturday.   Here are the finished pieces.

I love the black fuzzy thread on the spooky cat hanging ornament!

The quilt fabric for Home of a Needleworker is a pretty purple splotchy color.

It did not photograph well, so here is a close-up of the fabric.

A May Update

I didn't have a stitching update to post last week.  It was Hubby's birthday, plus we tried twice (and didn't succeed) to buy a house in Virginia that week.  But I did get a little bit of stitching done this week.

Here is my American Soldier Memorial piece.  It is coming along slowly.

Then I got this far on Spring House.

I ran out of my grass color, so I ordered some more this weekend.  While I was getting something I really needed (ha, ha!) I decided to pick up some fabric for a couple of the Cup O' Tea patterns by Just Another Button Co.

I started this piece on Saturday after I ran out of my other floss.  It is the January Flip-It by Lizzie Kate.

I have come to the realization that I don't have any interest in stitching big complicated patterns this year.  I want to do things that are quick and easy!  Maybe it has to do with being distracted with planning a move, but I really don't have the patience to work on something complex.  So maybe this is  a year of  quick stitches for me.

Also, I posted another Christmas pattern at my design blog, Zippity Stitch.  I hope you stop by to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!
